Dr. Iacobelli and his associates are all orthodontic specialists.
An orthodontic specialist is a dentist who has completed two to three years of continuous advanced studies in a graduate program approved by the American Dental Association. Only after completing the program and passing a specialty licensing board can they call themselves orthodontists.
Because of these extra years of education an orthodontist has acquired the special skills critical for accurate diagnosis of orthodontic problems, management of tooth movement and guidance of facial development through a comprehensive treatment program.
Orthodontic specialists, by law, must limit their practice to treating only orthodontic cases, therefore they are able to provide the most effective and efficient treatment for you or your child.

Our Practice Philosophy
Our practice philosophy is directed towards obtaining the highest quality, long lasting results possible. This includes ideal fit and function of all teeth and facial bones (not just straight front teeth). This approach leads to life-long stable results.
The removal of primary and permanent teeth is something we always strive to avoid. Utilizing techniques to encourage skeletal and jaw development-instead of extracting teeth and using headgear-we are able to accommodate all the teeth in the majority of cases. Although early treatment is often advised for severely crowded cases, we are careful not to prematurely start treatment on all children. Optimal timing keeps a child's treatment to a minimum, avoiding treatment for four years or longer.
Dr. Iacobelli has developed and taught these concepts to other professionals and practitioners. It is with this conservative approach and methodology that we are able to achieve our practice goals and bring you and your family the assurance of quality orthodontics resulting in healthy, stable functioning teeth to last a lifetime.

Ron R. Iacobelli, D.D.S. M.S.
 Dr. Iacobelli, founder of "Orthodontic Specialists", graduated first in his class from the University of Michigan Dental School in 1981. He was awarded numerous certificates for outstanding performance in dental anatomy and clinical children's dentistry. He then went on to complete his specialty residency and received his masters degree in orthodontics from the University of Detroit in 1983. Over the past 25 years, Dr. Iacobelli has researched and developed certain uniquely efficient and precise techniques for achieving rapid quality orthodontic results. He has become well known for developing these concepts and has been asked to teach them to many practitioners not only at the University of Detroit and at the Michigan Dental Association annual state session, but also through his continuing education classes taught to all levels of dental professionals throughout the area and abroad.
It is these conservative quality techniques, which have also become popular amongst our past 25,000 patients. These treatment approaches have resulted in esthetically pleasing smiles, stable results and relatively short treatment duration times. Both patients and referring doctors have been pleased with these results and have allowed our practice to become the largest quality oriented practice in southeastern Michigan.
Dr. Iacobelli's role is to make sure all patients are treated according to these high standards. Dr. Iacobelli spends most of his time seeing patients, as well as teaching and developing staff and doctors to treat according to the quality standards and concepts he has developed.
